Three separate answers.

NASA, NOAA, and Berkeley Earth each measure Earth's temperature their own way, from their own data. In a typical year their answers differ by about 0.04°C — a gap far too small to feel, and over 25× smaller than the warming all three report. This page measures that gap exactly.

Three teams that don't share methods or station lists land on almost the same number, year after year. If the record were wrong, they'd have to all be wrong in the same way — that agreement is the evidence.

Why do they differ at all?

Each team makes its own judgment calls: how to estimate the poles, which ocean records to trust, how to fill gaps where stations are sparse . Different choices produce slightly different answers — typically about 0.04°C apart, smaller than any home thermometer can even display. Each dataset's page has the full method story.
