How this analysis works

NOAAGlobalTemp v6 merges land measurements (GHCN) with ocean records (ERSST) into pole-to-pole yearly averages. It is more cautious than NASA about filling gaps where measurements are sparse — one of the method differences that makes the agreement between the analyses meaningful.

Shown with its own 1951–1980 average subtracted so all three analyses share one zero line — the only change we make to the published numbers. See how closely it agrees with the other two.
